With Abrahams disbanding after underwhelming performances at Deadlock Night Shift EU #61, #62, and W Tourney 03 — where Kastalia knocked them out in all three events - this is the first DLNS EU ever without them, and the night started with Buff Enjoyers avenging their old rivals by knocking out Kastalia.
Leviathan vs Buff Enjoyers
Game 1: Leviathan's Indiscipline
Leviathan and Buff Enjoyers started with the most electric game of the night. Both played with their best heroes: on one side, Zerggy's
Wraith, vraic's
Paradox, and cosmetical's
Ivy. On the other side, together's
Yamato, sanya_sniper'
Celeste, and ABL's
The Doorman.
The game went back and forth all game long; both teams had their moments but couldn't keep rolling. Leviathan had the lead for most of the game, with Buff Enjoyers always managing to keep the game within reach. By the end of the game, Buff Enjoyers' pragmatism paid off, outscaling Leviathan's composition in the late game.
Game 2: Seven Blackout
The second game of the night was the revival of
Seven - the hero hadn't made an appearance in DLNS EU since the #47 edition. Leviathan brought back together's
Shiv, historically one of the best with the hero.
Buff Enjoyers had a better start, winning the early trades, getting some kills, and building a souls advantage. However, things started to flip sides at the first rift, where Leviathan managed to kill cosmetical's
Pocket, breaking his momentum. After this, Leviathan got the confidence they needed to start pressuring Buff Enjoyers and win the big fights. Leviathan seemed to learn from the W Tourney 03 grand final, managing to reduce their mistakes and close the game.
Game 3: Bending the Meta
For the last game of the night, Buff Enjoyers tried Zerggy's
Seven one more time, hoping for a different result. The only change from the last game was hoot's
Grey Talon. Leviathan, on the other hand, changed half of their composition, ready to end the night on a high note.
Leviathan's adjustments were very effective, with sanya_sniper'
Ivy, ABL's
Paradox, and overseas'
Billy getting a lot of kills around the map, shrinking Buff Enjoyers' map. empty dreams's
Mina also shut down cosmetical's
Pocket, taking away the only way for Buff Enjoyers to recover in the game. With everything settled, Leviathan went straight to the mid-boss and ended the game.
The meta may be rewarding late-game scaling and the pragmatic gameplay of Buff Enjoyers. But Leviathan proves that they can bend this with their aggressive playstyle, getting kills and closing off the opponent's map.
