After five months away from competitive play, Hydra Nation announced their comeback in spectacular fashion, sweeping Bird with Clock 2-0 in the Freakfest Tournament finals.
The Freakfest Tournament delivered one of the most compelling storylines the NA Deadlock scene has seen in months. After a five-month hiatus from competitive play, Hydra Nation returned to the scene with a statement performance, sweeping Bird with Clock in the grand finals to take home the championship title.
But Hydra's championship wasn't even the biggest shock of the weekend. That honor belongs to Bird with Clock, who dismantled Melee Creeps in the semifinals, ending the winning streak that included 17 weeks straight in Deadlock Fight Night NA. That record will be put on the line this coming Wednesday.
The Streak Breaker
Melee Creeps entered Freakfest as heavy favorites. Their dominance of the Night Shift NA circuit had been so complete that their eventual loss felt less like a matter of "if" and more like "when and to whom." Bird with Clock answered both questions emphatically with a clean 2-0 sweep.

Drifter in Game 2 with another MVP performance, and suddenly the unbeatable Melee Creeps were headed home early. The big storyline coming out of the match though was
Mo & Krill played by tanner. After the game eidorian took to Twitch and any other platform he could find to speak out against the hero. Listening to eidorian post game on his stream, he seemed to point to Abrahams' loss in EU Night Shift, saying Mo & Krill was a major part of their defeat as well.
The loss stings for Melee Creeps, but it also signals a healthier competitive ecosystem. When one team dominates for 17 consecutive weeks, the scene needs a shake up and Bird with Clock delivered it on the heels of Abrahams falling last week.
The Prodigal Squad
Hydra Nation's return couldn't have been scripted better. The squad hadn't competed since October 2025, but you wouldn't know it from watching them play. They carved through the bracket: 2-0 over No Earnings in round one, a hard-fought 2-1 against Floormen in the semis, and a dominant 2-0 over Bird with Clock in the finals.

The team synergy was evident throughout. Snakes racked up 43 assists across two games, while LOMEIN led the team with 18 total kills. This wasn't a rusty squad finding their footing—this was a roster that arrived ready to compete.
What It Means
Freakfest reshuffles the NA power rankings in interesting ways. Melee Creeps are no longer untouchable. Bird with Clock proved they can hang with the best, even if the finals exposed some gaps against Hydra's coordinated aggression. And Hydra Nation? They're back, and they look dangerous. It will be curious to see if they play in Night Shift this coming Wednesday. They have openly dodged Night Shift invites for the past few weeks.
The question now is whether this was a one-off or a true return to form. If Hydra maintains this level of play, the NA scene just got a lot more interesting.
