Floorman brings in one of EU's bests but is it going to help or hurt?
Floormen have made a big change, moving on from Goober and bringing in Dimov from Leviathan. On paper, it is one of the more interesting roster bets North America has seen in a while.
Floormen’s statement was pretty straightforward. They called Goober a strong player, said the fit was not right, and wished him well. That usually means the issue was not raw ability. And that tracks here, because Goober gave Floormen something a lot of teams do not have.
He was a real factor on
Viscous, and that mattered. It is not just that he could play the hero. Teams had to actually think about it in draft. When a player can force that kind of respect, there is value there even beyond the stat line. Against a team like Melee Creeps, having a specialist that changes the draft conversation is not nothing. That said, Dimov's highest win rate hero is also Viscous. He just hasn't played Viscous in four months competitively, here was his last game on the hero:
So this is not a move where Floormen are simply replacing a weak player with a stronger one. It feels more like they are trading one kind of value for another.
And the upside with Dimov is obvious. He has been one of Europe’s best players for a while, and he brings a level of individual playmaking that can swing games. If Floormen wanted more firepower, more confidence in fights, and a player who can put pressure on the server, it is easy to see why they made the call.
What makes this move so interesting is everything that comes with it.
First, there is the ping issue
That is the biggest question right away. Dimov is good enough to make any team interested, but playing NA from Europe is a real risk. Deadlock is too fast and too mechanical to just shrug that off. Some players can manage it better than others, but it is still something teams will test immediately. If Floormen are making this move, they are clearly betting that Dimov’s upside is big enough to outweigh whatever gets lost there.
Second, EU vs NA playstyle
Dimov is not just a talented player. He is coming from Europe, and EU Deadlock has had its own rhythm, priorities, and ideas about how to play the map. That does not automatically mean conflict, but it does mean adjustment. Sometimes a new perspective can raise a team’s ceiling. Sometimes it takes longer than expected for everyone to get on the same page. That part is worth watching.
There is also a world where this gives Floormen a completely different look. Goober made them dangerous in one way. Dimov could make them dangerous in another. Instead of getting value from a specialized piece that bends draft pressure, maybe they are chasing a more explosive version of themselves.
That does not make it a safe move. It probably is not. But it does make it a fascinating one.
As for Goober, this feels less like the end of the road and more like a reset. He was good, and more importantly, he brought something distinct. In a scene where teams are always trying to find edges, that usually keeps you relevant.
