Melee Creeps has withdrawn from the Mo & Krill Cup. The North American squad, widely regarded as the top team in their region, would have faced significant latency disadvantages playing on Chinese servers from across the Pacific.
The $1,500 event runs March 28-29 (Beijing Time) with eight teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. The format features mostly BO1 matches in early rounds, escalating to BO3 for the winners' bracket final and later loser's bracket rounds, culminating in a BO5 grand final. Cross-region competition remains a challenge in Deadlock's nascent esports scene, with server location often determining which teams can realistically participate. Abrahams and Leviathan tried their hand at it playing in the North America Deathy Death Slam #2 event finishing outside the top 2. While Melee Creeps' absence removes a potential favorite from the bracket, it opens the door for APAC and Chinese teams to compete on more even footing. Asia's top teams are worth keeping an eye on as we look towards an eventually LAN event.
