Healing Rite — the pub disease

**MID** When you’re playing mid, you should NOT buy items like Healing Rite, Extra Regen, or Rebuttal (that item is basically unplayable and needs a rework). You don’t need Healing Rite because your job is simple: - Clear the wave fast Steal enemy boxes Take the mid camp Then farm your own jungle Healing Rite does not help you farm faster. You might say: > “I’m farming jungle, I’m losing HP, I want to sustain.” Fair. But your sustain is your mid supports’ responsibility: - Dynamo heals you Paige gives you a barrier McGinnis heals you Ivy gives you Tether (and she can even use Healing Rite on you herself while her bomb clears creeps) Second problem: you walk to lane and it gets canceled. Item gone. 800 souls wasted. Those 800 souls could’ve gone into actual orange items like: - Restorative Shot Monster Rounds Extended magazine Items that make you faster and stronger. You might argue: > “Extra Regen is better. It’s constant sustain.” Again — your HP is not your responsibility. It’s your supports’. You cannot throw souls into items that don’t accelerate you. Imagine this: You buy Regen. Your opponent buys Monster Rounds. They clear waves faster. They secure boxes. Even if mid isn’t the worst place to fall behind, they farm THEIR safe boxes and camps faster than you. Then they scale into Rapid Rounds, Swift Striker, Cultist, etc. Meanwhile you bought Healing Rite. Then Extra Health. That’s 1600 souls spent just to be a green guy on Haze. That’s terrible. Your goal is to accelerate your damage. **OFFLANE** Never buy Healing Rite. I’m serious. Side lanes are active and aggressive. There are only two outcomes with Healing Rite: 1. It gets canceled on lane. You wasted gold on an item you didn’t even finish using. 2. You fully channel it behind a wall like a hero — and completely give up lane control. If the wave is in the middle while you’re hiding and healing, you’re not farming creeps. Even if you don’t miss lane creeps — fine, lucky you. They’ll push the wave into you. And when they push: * They take the small camp * They take your boxes * If they’re bold, they take the T1 house boxes You give them space. You give them map control. They get levels earlier. They secure rune. They shove. Done. All because you wanted to heal. You might think: > “Okay, Healing Rite is bad. I’ll buy Extra Regen instead.” It works all the time. Three regen. Out-of-combat sustain. Helps with trades. Here’s the issue. Restorative Shot heals 50. If you proc it consistently, it’s more efficient than Regen. Yes, you won’t proc it perfectly every time — but that’s not the core problem. The real issue: Extra Regen does NOT increase your wave clear. You buy it — and your damage doesn’t change. Two huge problems: 1. It only heals you. 2. Your job isn’t to survive — it’s to break the enemy and farm the lane hard before minute nine. Your objective isn’t even necessarily to kill. It’s to extract maximum resources from that lane before T1 falls. Extra Regen does not help with that. It may trick you into thinking it helps. It doesn’t. If you’re low HP (200 after trades), what do you do? Option: Break the wave, take a trade, die. Not the worst outcome. You respawn full HP. If enemies buy Healing Rite after killing you, compare situations: They spent 800 souls on an item that doesn’t help them scale. You spent 800 souls on an item that helps you hold and farm lane. Yes, that green number above their head might look scary. It feels like they’re richer. But what matters is not how many souls you farm. It’s what you spend them on. If they spend on Regen, Healing Rite, Extra Health — that’s cope spending. They’re paying to endure. You’re paying to accelerate: * Farm faster * Fight for rune * Control tempo You will outscale that. If you wipe enemies and then spend gold to heal — that’s weird. If you wiped them, you can: * Deny yourself * Or shove wave and trade aggressively It’s often better to die after breaking the wave. Before minute nine, if one enemy eats the wave solo, they gain less total than if two share it (soul sharing mechanics). That’s actually good for you. Better to die under tower. Better to die after a good trade. **But ALWAYS break the wave first. ** If the wave is broken, you can afford to die. This is a MOBA. Death is normal. KDA doesn’t matter. Resource allocation does. Side lane should be played aggressively. You come in ready to trade and fight constantly. Yes, some matchups are rough — like Shiv into Infernus. But if you’re more aggressive and understand the matchup, you can win it. And Infernus players always build into gun anyway. That’s why Shiv has Suppressor as a third item option. You can wish them good luck.

Looks like the site formatting still isn’t working. No big deal. I’ll update it later with a section about side supports and explain why these items should actually be bought by mid supports.
